The Carousel Spins Backward — Abandoned Fair

An 8-second horror short, 16:9: an abandoned fairground carousel that begins turning backward at dusk — and whose horses all turn to watch the camera. The hook: childhood joy, inverted.
0-2s: Dusk at the abandoned fairground. The camera approaches a derelict carousel: peeling paint curling off the rounding boards, cracked mirrors, horses frozen mid-gallop under a sagging canopy. It circles slowly, taking in the decay — a snapped brass pole, a horse with a missing eye — and then, with a shudder of grinding gears, the carousel begins to turn. Backward.
2-5s: Against its gears it rotates, the calliope wheezing a reversed tune, notes falling wrong. As it turns, each horse's head rotates too — wooden necks creaking — until every horse faces outward, facing the camera, glass eyes catching the dusk orange. The rotation accelerates; the horses' legs begin to move, galloping in place, faster and faster, the whole structure shuddering on its platform.
5-8s: One horse tears free of its pole and lands on the platform facing the camera — then another, wood cracking, hooves thudding. The calliope's reversed tune slows, stretches — and resolves into a voice, singing the camera operator's name. The horses lean in. Cut to black on the final note.
Craft: the carousel is the subject — peeling paint, cracked mirrors, wooden horses mid-gallop, the sagging canopy, brass poles; no actors, only the machine. Camera: a slow circling approach, a held wide as it turns, push-ins on the rotating horse heads, a final lunge as the freed horses face the lens.
