The Jetpack Test Flight — 1960s Rocket Dreams

An 8-second 1960s newsreel homage, 16:9: a jetpack test pilot lifts off — twenty feet up, wobbling, glorious, for twenty-one seconds. The hook: the future, strapped to a man's back.
0-2s: The test field: bright sun, bleachers half-full, the jetpack pilot strapping in — twin tanks, canvas harness, steel helmet — the countdown crackling over the PA. Engineers hold their breath; the newsreel camera grinds; a flag snaps in the prop wash of history. Three, two, one —
2-5s: With a deafening roar he lifts — twenty feet up, wobbling, glorious. The camera holds the flight in full: the pilot fighting the wobble with hip shifts and arm windmills, the rocket glare blazing white, his silhouette bucking against the blue. Engineers cheer, hats thrown skyward; the newsreel camera tracks him, grinding, the cameraman laughing behind the eyepiece.
5-8s: He lands hard — knees buckling, boots skidding, soot-streaked — grinning through the soot like a man who has touched the sky and lived to tell it. The engineers mob him, pounding his back, the newsreel camera grinding on his grin. Daring and ridiculous. The future, strapped to a man's back — and it flew. End.
Craft: the pilot is the subject — the rocket belt, the wobble, the grin; the engineers and the newsreel cameraman as the witnesses; the test field as the stage. Camera: ground-level awe shots, the wobbling flight in full. Lighting: bright test-range sun, rocket glare, fine film grain. Atmosphere: daring and ridiculous. Style: 1960s newsreel homage, authentic rocket-belt detail, 24fps, 8 seconds, 16:9.
