Your Neighbor Waves — Window Across the Street

Phone-footage dread, 8 seconds, 16:9. An apartment window, rain streaking the glass, evening: the filmer captures the rain, the streetlights blooming — then notices the window across the street, where a neighbor stands, waving, friendly. 0-3 seconds: the filmer waves back, laughing, and keeps filming the rain; minutes pass in a time-lapse blur — clouds racing, lights flickering — and the neighbor is still waving: same window, same wave, unbroken, the smile fixed. 3-6 seconds: the zoom — the neighbor's arm moving in a metronome arc, the smile too fixed, and the apartment behind them is dark — no lights, no furniture visible, just black; the waving continues through a second time-lapse, the filmer's laughter gone, the phone lowering slightly. 6-8 seconds: the filmer stops waving — the neighbor doesn't; the filmer turns off the room light, and in the darkened glass reflection the neighbor is suddenly much closer — standing in the filmer's own window reflection, still waving, the smile still fixed. The rain intensifies, blurring the neighbor's outline; the filmer's own reflection sharpens in the dark glass — and behind it, the waving arm keeps its metronome time, unbroken. Craft: rain-streaked window, streetlight amber, the neighbor's metronome wave, dark apartment beyond. Camera: phone footage, slow zoom, time-lapse blurs, reflection reveal. Lighting: streetlight amber on rain glass, reflection darkness. Atmosphere: neighborly dread curdled. Style: phone footage, zoom, time-lapse, reflection scare, 30fps.
