Staircase Footsteps — Fixed Camera Nightmare

Static-cam horror short, 8 seconds, 16:9. Fixed camera, low angle, aimed up a dark wooden staircase in an old house at 2AM: the banister, the runner carpet, a nightlight glowing amber at the top landing. 0-3 seconds: nothing moves for three full seconds, just the staircase in the nightlight's glow, dust hanging in the air; the silence is total. 3-6 seconds: the top step creaks, and one by one the treads groan under descending weight, dust puffing from the worn runner carpet with each invisible footfall, the banister shuddering faintly, a framed photograph on the wall trembling with each step; no figure, no shadow, only the sound and the physical evidence of something coming down the stairs. 6-8 seconds: the footsteps reach the bottom step and stop directly before the camera; the nightlight at the top goes out, plunging the stairs into absolute black; then a cold breath fogs the lens from inches away, condensation blooming outward across the glass like frost. Craft: the staircase is dark oak with a worn floral runner carpet, a turned banister polished by a century of hands, and framed photographs lining the wall; the nightlight is a small amber plug-in; no figure is ever visible. Camera: a fixed low-angle static shot, never moving; the horror arrives within the unmoving frame. Lighting: a single amber nightlight against total darkness, deep blacks swallowing the edges. Atmosphere: pure helpless dread, the terror of the unseen. Style: static-cam realism, natural sound design emphasis, 24fps.
