The Firefighters — The Candle Blaze

A 12-second 16:9 heroic miniature firefight: tiny firefighters battle a birthday candle's raging flame. The scene opens on the giant candle, its flame towering and wild, the crew racing in with a thimble-pumper, hoses of drinking straws uncoiling, smoke — powdered sugar — billowing. 0-4s: The camera pushes through the sugar-smoke as the crew climbs the wax cliff, one firefighter axing a burning wick-fall that's dripping flaming wax, the straw hoses arcing water in glittering streams, the flame roaring above them. 4-8s: The pumper crew works the thimble, water hammering the flame's base, the firefighters' turnout gear glowing orange in the firelight, the wax cliff sweating and softening under their boots; the flame gutters, surges, gutters again. 8-12s: The flame dies with a final shudder of smoke; the crew stands in the drifting sugar-smoke, soot-faced, arms raised in triumph, as the birthday song starts somewhere beyond the frame. A firefighter's helmet slips over his eyes and he shoves it back, soot streaking his forehead. The thimble-pumper's handle squeaks with each stroke, and the wax cliff's softened edge slumps, burying one straw hose.
