Dojo Hallway Trial — Paper Wall Gauntlet

Single-take martial short, 11 seconds, 16:9 — one unbroken Steadicam shot down a traditional Kyoto dojo hallway at dusk, where a young kendoka in indigo hakama fights three senior students and the paper walls pay the price. 0-3s: The shot opens gliding backward down the hallway: shoji paper walls glowing amber in the dusk light, wooden floors polished dark, a single hanging scroll trembling. The young kendoka backs into frame, bokken raised — and the first senior rushes; she meets him with a shoulder throw that tears straight through a shoji wall in a burst of paper, the senior vanishing into the next room. 3-6s: No cut — paper fragments float past the lens as the second senior attacks with a sweeping strike; she blocks it inches from a hanging lantern, the lantern swinging wildly, and disarms him with a wrist twist that sends his bokken skittering down the polished floor. 6-9s: The third senior, the strongest, presses her down the corridor in a flurry of strikes — wood cracking on wood — until she drops low, sweeps his legs, and pins his bokken to the floor with her own, the tip stopping a breath from his throat. 9-11s: Silence except for settling paper; the camera ends on the torn shoji wall, the jagged hole framing the dusk-blue garden beyond, paper still drifting down. Craft: subject — young kendoka in indigo hakama; three senior students in white keikogi; props — bokken, shoji walls, hanging lantern, scroll. Camera: graceful Steadicam gliding backward, paper fragments floating past the lens; 35mm, 24fps. Lighting: warm amber through shoji, dusk blue beyond the torn wall, lantern glow. Atmosphere: disciplined, devastating, beautiful — violence with manners. Style: jidaigeki elegance, floating paper detail, warm-cool contrast, fine grain.
