A Porch Light Flicker — Midnight Knock Loop

Grounded horror short, 8 seconds, 16:9. Night, a rural farmhouse interior: the camera sits low in a dark living room, looking through a screen door at a wooden porch lit by a single erratic bulb. 0-2 seconds: the porch bulb flickers erratically, strobing the rocking chair, which rocks almost imperceptibly though there is no wind, the coiled garden hose, the welcome mat; moths batter around the bulb, and the house is silent except for the electrical buzz. 2-5 seconds: three slow knocks land on the front door, heavy and deliberate, and the porch is empty; the knocks come again, and the bulb dies completely, plunging the porch into absolute black. 5-8 seconds: the bulb sputters back on and a tall figure stands inches from the screen door, facing the camera, its face lost in shadow, rainwater dripping from its coat onto the boards; it does not move, and then the screen door handle begins to turn, slowly, the mesh of the screen door bowing inward with the pressure, the latch clicking once. Craft: the porch has a wooden rocking chair, a coiled garden hose, a worn welcome mat, and the single caged bulb; the figure is tall, still, faceless in shadow. Camera: a low locked-off shot from inside the dark room, never moving, the horror arriving within the static frame. Lighting: harsh single-bulb strobing against rural darkness, deep shadows swallowing the room's interior. Atmosphere: home-invasion dread, primal fear of the threshold. Style: grounded realism, practical lighting only, 24fps.
